Supporting Adults Through Anxiety, Trauma, Life Transitions, and Personal Growth
Jennifer supports adults navigating anxiety, trauma, narcissistic abuse recovery, career transitions, emotional overwhelm, and difficult life changes. She also offers Christian counseling integration for clients who wish to incorporate their faith into the counseling process in a respectful, client-led way.
At MATR Counseling in Linthicum Heights, MD, Jennifer creates a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe exploring emotions, experiences, relationships, and personal challenges. She helps individuals build self-awareness, strengthen coping skills, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and emotional resilience.
Jennifer is currently completing her Clinical Mental Health Counseling training at Capella University. In addition, she holds a Master of Science in Adult Education and brings more than 20 years of experience teaching, mentoring, and supporting individuals from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
A Background In Education, Communication, And Emotional Support
Jennifer’s professional background centers on helping others grow, adapt, and overcome challenges. Throughout her career as an adult education instructor and ESL educator, she has supported students in building confidence, navigating barriers, and achieving personal, academic, and professional goals.
Moreover, her experience working with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds both within the United States and internationally has strengthened her ability to connect with clients in an authentic and compassionate way.
Additionally, Jennifer has experience working as a mental health paraprofessional, where she supported clients through behavioral care, emotional support, skill-building, and connection to community resources. This work further strengthened her ability to build rapport, respond to emotional needs, and create supportive therapeutic relationships.
Jennifer’s Counseling Approach
Jennifer feels passionate about helping adults who feel emotionally overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, disconnected, or uncertain about how to move forward in life. She especially enjoys supporting individuals navigating stress, trauma, major life transitions, personal growth, and relationship challenges.
Her counseling approach focuses on collaboration, emotional safety, self-awareness, and practical coping strategies. She works alongside clients to better understand patterns, emotions, behaviors, and life experiences while helping them build healthier ways of coping and responding to stress.
Jennifer incorporates strengths-based approaches, communication skills, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive counseling into her work. Furthermore, she remains committed to ongoing learning, clinical growth, and providing compassionate support to individuals throughout Maryland.
A Multicultural & Bilingual Counseling Perspective
As a Latina and bilingual Spanish-speaking counseling intern, Jennifer understands the importance of culture, identity, family dynamics, and emotional expression within the counseling process.
She recognizes that cultural experiences often influence how individuals understand stress, relationships, trauma, boundaries, and mental health. Therefore, Jennifer strives to create a counseling environment where clients feel seen, respected, supported, and understood within the context of their personal background and lived experiences.
Her multicultural experience and work with diverse populations continue shaping her commitment to inclusive, responsive, and emotionally safe care.
Why Jennifer Chose Counseling
Jennifer pursued counseling because of her longstanding passion for helping others find clarity, healing, personal growth, and direction during difficult seasons of life.
Throughout her years in education, she witnessed how emotional struggles, stress, trauma, and life challenges can affect every area of a person’s well-being. As a result, she felt called to expand her ability to support individuals beyond academics and into emotional and mental health care.
Jennifer believes every person deserves a safe space where they can feel heard without judgment, better understand themselves, and begin moving toward a more balanced, meaningful, and fulfilling life.
